DASHing Puzzles
Last weekend, Jonathan and I assembled Team Pickles and Peaches for the DASH (Different Area, Same Hunt) puzzle hunt in Los Altos. DASH is a neat concept, because as the name implies, there were 9 other cities playing at the same time, using the same puzzles!
In total, we had 8 puzzles to complete, with nearly each city contributing a puzzle. We spent 6 hours running around Los Altos solving puzzles that were all unified by a common theme: TV.
So what were the questions like? DASH hasn’t posted this year’s clues and answers, but they have last years’ online, so you can get a sense for what types of puzzles we were solving.
In the end, we were only able to complete 7 of the 8 puzzles, but I think that’s pretty good considering this was only the second time we’ve competed in any sort of puzzle hunt.
In short, my advice for anyone looking to get started in puzzling is this: you can’t do it alone. Get a diverse group of friends together to solve puzzles. We never would have been able to get as far as we did without the help of our awesome teammates: Adam, Paul and Robyn.
So what’s next?
Team Pickles and Peaches is taking it on the road! On June 26th, we’ll be in San Diego competing in Puzzle Pursuit: The Fugitive. Both Jonathan and I are really excited to fly down to San Diego for a fun weekend of puzzling and sightseeing.
If you’d like to join us, we are still looking for team members, so please get in touch!
